ifs ProShare, the organisation that acts as the voice of the employee share ownership industry in the UK, has called on financial advisers to incorporate employee share plans as part of their factfinds.
Julie Richardson, Head of Employee Share Ownership at ifs ProShare, said;
“All financial advisers are obliged to ensure that any advice offered is suitable for the consumer based on the customers circumstances and needs. This is ordinarily done via a comprehensive factfind of which a crucial element is assessing a clients financial situation.
This inevitably includes employment details but often advisers fail to ask whether or not their employer offers an employee share plan.”
ifs ProShare contend that as more than 5 million UK employees are now participating in some form of employee share plan, share plans could often form an important part of the financial advice process.
This November ifs ProShare is to offer an introductory training course for financial advisers, focusing solely on employee share plans.
