ifs ProShare Employee Share Plans Conference 2008

The third ifs ProShare annual conference was held on 23rd September 2008 at the Hotel Russell in London. Our thanks go to our major sponsor HBOS Employee Equity Solutions and to our other sponsors Baker & McKenzie, Barclays Stockbrokers, Equiniti, Killik Employee Services, Ogier, Sanne Group and Yorkshire Building Society. Their support contributes greatly to the overall success of the event. Our thanks also go to all the speakers.

The keynote speaker this year was Charlie Mayfield, Chairman of the John Lewis Partnership. John Lewis are a shining example of employee ownership and Charlie Mayfield gave an enthusiastic, informative and well received speech.

Over 160 delegates attended the event and the feedback we have received has been very positive indeed. Amongst other things, delegates heard sessions on Financial Education and International Share Plans as well as a series of case studies. As expected the panel discussion with HMRC was a lively affair as was the discussion on the EU Prospectus Directive.

Last years’ Conference

ifs ProShare Employee Share Plans Conference 2007

The Conference held at the Hotel Russell, Russell Square, on 27 September 2007, was opened by Donald Brydon, Chairman of the ifs School of Finance, and chaired by Daniel Dodd of the BBC, who has kindly donated his fee to the BBC Children in Need charity (see www.bbc.co.uk/pudsey for details of this year’s Appeal which is taking place on 16 November).

Lembit Opik MP gave a lively keynote speech in which he emphasised the Liberal Democrats’ strong support for employee share ownership, but cautioned that work was still needed “…to adjust the culture of some businesses in the UK who are not used to sharing the rewards of success.”

Delegates had a choice of 14 breakout sessions to attend. Thank you to all our sponsors and exhibitors.
