A graduate of Strathclyde University and a Fellow of the ICSA, from the 1970s, Bill Hamilton worked as a company secretary for a number of major UK plcs including Burmah Oil, Metal Box, Amersham International and, finally, J Sainsbury where he was Assistant Company Secretary and Senior Manager with responsibility for the Company Secretary’s Department . During his term at Sainsbury’s, the Company twice won a ifs ProShare award.
Bill retired from Sainsbury’s in 2004 and took up a part time position with Prism CoSec, a private firm of Chartered Secretaries, where he helped to provide a secretarial service to overseas companies seeking a listing on the London Stock Exchange. Many of these companies are now established FTSE 100 companies and include Kazakhmys plc and Vedanta plc.
Bill retired finally in 2008 and lives with his wife in Princes Risborough Buckinghamshire.
